SRX26200598: RNA-seq of H volcanii, compressed, 12h
1 ILLUMINA (NextSeq 2000) run: 9.7M spots, 984.2M bases, 320.1Mb downloads

Design: Samples were DNAse treated with Invitrogen DNAse (RNAse free), and ribo-depleted using H. volcanii specific probes (see Rados and Andre et al, 2023)

Uniaxial compression induces tissue-like multicellular development in haloarchaea. In this work, we show that haloarchaeal multicellular structures converged to mimic animal and plant features such as morphological, viscoelastic, polarity, and molecular specialization distinct from unicellular lifestyle. A fast-evolving, archaeal tissue-like developmental program contributes to the debate on the requirements for complex multicellularity.
